Before you start cleaning the stain, it is important to pre-treat area with dish soap. Take a clean cloth and soak it in water. Squeeze out any excess water and then add a few drops of dish soap to the cloth. Gently rub the affected area with the soapy cloth for a few minutes. Rinse the cloth with cold water, and use it to gently blot the stain several times. Rinse cloth with cold water each time you blot the stain. This will help to loosen the ink from the fabric.
Once stain has been pre-treated, make a baking soda paste. Start by adding two tablespoons of baking soda to a bowl. Slowly add a small amount of water and mix until you have a thick paste. Apply the paste to the stained area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Once the paste has had time to set, use a clean cloth to gently scrub area in a circular motion.
After scrubbing area with the baking soda paste, you can apply white vinegar to stain. Take a clean cloth and dampen it with white vinegar. Gently blot the stained area with the cloth. Be sure to use a light touch and not rub or scrub the area.
Once the stain has been treated with the vinegar, you can rinse it off with cold water. Use a clean cloth to blot the area to remove any remaining residue. If stain isn't completely gone, you may need to repeat above steps. Sometimes ink can be stubborn and it may take more than one treatment to completely remove it.
To prevent ink stains in the future, be sure to use a protective cover when you are working with pens or markers. You should also avoid wearing light-colored clothing when working with inks as they can easily stain light fabrics.
