Removing Ink Stains from Rosepoint Lace

The first thing you want to do is to identify stain and make sure it is indeed an ink stain. Ink stains tend to be dark, usually black or blue. If it’s still wet, you should blot the stain with a cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Then rub some laundry detergent into the stain and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

For stubborn ink stains, you may need to make a stronger solution. Mix equal parts ammonia and water and apply it to the stain with a clean cloth. Let it sit for about five minutes before washing it off with warm water. If the stain does not come out completely, repeat process until it is removed.

For really stubborn ink stains, try using a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water. Apply it to the stain and let it sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Again, if the stain does not come out completely, you may have to repeat the steps until it is removed.

If you’re dealing with a small ink stain, you can also try a few drops of lemon juice. Let it sit on the stain for five minutes before rinsing it off. Be sure to rinse with warm, not hot, water.

Preserving Your Rosepoint Lace

Once you’ve gotten rid of the ink stain, you’ll want to make sure that your rosepoint lace stays in top condition. To do this, only hand wash it in cold water with a mild detergent. Gently agitate the fabric while washing and then gently squeeze out the excess water. Never wring, twist, or pull on the fabric, or it may become distorted.

When you’re finished hand washing the fabric, lay it flat on a towel and roll it up to absorb excess moisture. Once it has dried, press it with a cool iron if necessary. But be sure to use a pressing cloth over the fabric so that the iron doesn’t directly touch the lace.
