Removing ink stains from rash guards can be a tricky business. The fabric of rash guards is especially vulnerable when exposed to ink, as it has a tendency to seep deep into the fabric and become nearly impossible to remove. But, with the correct cleaning techniques, you should be able to restore your rash guard to its original condition in no time.
What You’ll Need
- A Toothbrush or Soft-bristled Brush
- White Towels
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Laundry Detergent
Instructions
- Start by removing any excess ink and blotting the area dry with paper towels.
- Dab some rubbing alcohol onto a soft bristled brush (or toothbrush) and lightly scrub stained area. Be gentle, as harsh scrubbing could damage the fabric.
- Rinse rubbed area using cold water and white towels. You may have to repeat this process several times in order to remove the stain.
- Once the stain has been removed, apply a small amount of laundry detergent directly to the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Finally, rinse the detergent off with cold water and let the rash guard air dry.
Tips & Tricks
- For more difficult stains, you can use baking soda paste instead of rubbing alcohol. Simply mix baking soda with water until it forms an even paste and apply to the stained area. Let the paste sit for 20 minutes before rinsing it off.
- It’s best to wash the rash guard on its own, as colors may run and cause discoloration.
- If the stain is still present after trying the above methods, it’s best to take your rash guard to a professional cleaner.
