What You Need

  • White cloth
  • Paper towels
  • Dish soap
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Ammonia
  • Hydrogen peroxide

Step 1: Scrape the Stain

Use a dull knife or spoon to lightly scrape off any excess residue on stained area. Being careful not to damage fabric, remove as much of the stain as possible.

Step 2: Blot

Using a white cloth or paper towel, gently blot the area to absorb excess liquid and ink. Do not scrub or rub the material as this could spread stain further.

Step 3: Pre-Soak

Create a pre-soak solution by combining a teaspoon of dish soap with two cups of warm water. Place the stained area of the fabric into the pre-soak and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water.

Step 4: Use a Cleaning Agent

If the stain is still visible after rinsing, you may need to use a cleaning agent. Try one of the following:

  • Rubbing Alcohol – apply a small amount directly onto the stain. Blot with a clean cloth or paper towel until the stain has been removed. Rinse with cold water.
  • Ammonia – combine one tablespoon of clear ammonia in one cup of water. Dip a white cloth into the mixture, and blot onto the stain. Follow up with a cold water rinse.
  • Hydrogen Peroxide – pour directly onto the stain. Allow the material to soak for 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
