Materials Needed

  • Dish Soap
  • Vinegar
  • Spray bottle
  • Clean cloth/sponge
  • Oxygen-based bleach

Step 1: Pretreat the Stain

Take a clean cloth or sponge and dampen it before applying a tablespoon of dish soap directly onto the stain. Rub the cloth or sponge gently over the stain until it is completely covered in soap. Allow the soap to sit for 5-10 minutes, then gently rub the fabric together where the stain is located.

Step 2: Rinse and Repeat

Using clean water, rinse the area where the stain is located and repeat the process until the stain is removed. Once the stain is gone, use a clean dry cloth to absorb any excess water from the fabric. Allow the skirt to air dry or lightly press with a cloth to dry.

Step 3: Try an Alternative Method

If the above methods do not work, try soaking skirt in a solution of 1/2 cup vinegar and 1 gallon of warm water for 30 minutes. Afterward, rinse with water and repeat the process until the stain is gone. Once the stain is gone, use a clean dry cloth to absorb any excess water from the fabric. Allow the skirt to air dry or lightly press with a cloth to dry.

Step 4: Use Oxygen-Based Bleach

If all else fails, you can try using an oxygen-based bleach on the stain. Mix the bleach according to the package instructions, and apply it to the affected area. Allow bleach to sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with water. Repeat this process as necessary until the stain is removed, then wash as normal. Always test a small area of the garment with bleach before using, as it can discolor or damage delicate fabrics.

Conclusion

Cleaning ink stains from your pencil skirt may seem daunting, but with the right materials and a bit of patience, you can have your skirt looking good as new in no time! Follow steps outlined in this article, and you’ll be strutting in style in no time!
