Using a mild detergent and cold water is a great first step in removing ink stains from macramé. Start by clipping away any loose fibers or threads that might have been damaged during the staining. Next, mix together some mild detergent with cold water, dip a soft brush or sponge into the solution, and scrub the stain gently. Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as possible, rinse the fabric in cold water and allow it to air dry.
For more stubborn ink stains, lemon juice is an effective yet gentle cleaner. Simply squeeze enough lemon juice over the affected area to saturate the stain, and use a soft brush to scrub away at the spot. If the stain persists, you can mix together one part lemon juice and two parts water and soak the fabric overnight. After rinsing the fabric with cold water, allow it to air dry.
If the above methods don’t work, you can try using rubbing alcohol to remove the stain. As with the other cleaning methods, clip away any loose fibers before beginning. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into some rubbing alcohol, and gently scrub away at the stain until it’s removed. Note that this method can cause discoloration of certain fabrics, so be sure to test it on an inconspicuous spot first. After cleaning, allow the fabric to air dry.
