What You’ll Need:

  • Leather cleaner
  • White vinegar
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cotton swab
  • Soft cloth

Step 1: Test an Area

Before you begin cleaning, test the area with a cotton swab and some leather cleaner. Make sure cleaner won’t damage the material.

Step 2: Blot the Stain

Use a soft cloth to blot up as much of the ink as possible. Avoid rubbing the stain; this will only spread the ink further.

Step 3: Apply White Vinegar

Dampen a clean cloth or cotton swab with white vinegar and gently sponge the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes before blotting it up with a dry cloth.

Step 4: Use Rubbing Alcohol

If the stain is still visible, try applying a little rubbing alcohol with a soft cloth. Work the rubbing alcohol into the cloth and dab at the stain, avoiding rubbing in circles.

Step 5: Rinse & Dry

Once the stain is gone, rinse the affected area with lukewarm water. Allow the area to air dry completely.

Step 6: Condition the Leather

Once the leather has dried, it’s important to condition the material to keep it from drying out. Using a cloth, apply a small amount of leather cleaner and work it into the leather.

Step 7: Clean Up

Clean up any remaining residue by wiping with a damp cloth, then wipe with a dry cloth until no traces of cleaner remain. This will help protect leather from further damage.
