How to Clean Stubborn Ink Stains from Your Keds

What You'll Need
- Mild liquid detergent
- White vinegar
- Clean cloths
- Toothbrush
The Process
- Mix one part mild liquid detergent and two parts water in a small bowl to create a cleaning solution.
- Dampen a cloth with solution. Gently dab the stained area until the ink starts to lift off. Do not rub the stain; instead, use a blotting motion.
- Using a toothbrush, gently scrub the area to remove the rest of the stain. Reinstate the solution if needed.
- Create another cleaning solution by mixing equal parts water and white vinegar. Again, use a damp cloth to dab area.
- Allow area to dry or blot the area with a clean dry cloth.
Additional Tips
- Always test any cleaning product in an inconspicuous spot before using it on your shoes to be sure it won’t discolor the fabric.
- Do not attempt to heat set a stain. This will only make it worse.
