When dealing with ink stains, it’s important that you act quickly to prevent them from setting in and becoming harder to remove. Before attempting any stain-removal techniques, first test the product you plan to use on a hidden section of purse or handbag fabric to make sure it won’t cause any damage to material.
Rubbing alcohol is a great tool for treating ink stains. It will break up the pigments and help to lift them out of the fabric. Begin by pouring a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball or cloth and dab or rub it over the stain gently. Try to avoid scrubbing too hard, as this could damage the material.
If stain has not been completely removed, try repeating process with a clean cloth until the stain is gone. Once you’re finished, wash the area with cold water to rinse away any remaining rubbing alcohol.
Dish soap is another effective way to remove ink stains from a purse or handbag. Start by mixing some dish soap with water to create a soapy solution. Use a damp cloth or sponge to apply the mixture to the stain, working the soap into the fabric.
Let the mixture sit for a few minutes and then rinse it off with cold water. Repeat as necessary until the stain is gone. If after several attempts, the stain still remains, consider trying out a stronger cleaning solution.
Laundry detergent is another option for removing ink stains from purses and handbags. Simply mix a small amount of laundry detergent with warm water and stir until it forms a foamy lather.
Gently massage the foam into the stain, working it into the fabric, and then let it sit for 10-15 minutes. When time is up, rinse with cold water and repeat as needed until the stain is gone.
Nail polish remover is another option for removing ink stains from fabrics, although this method should only be used as a last resort. Begin by pouring a small amount of nail polish remover onto a cotton ball and then gently dab it over the stain. Try not to rub too hard, as the acetone in remover could cause damage to the fabric.
Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with cold water to wash away any residue. Be sure to check for any discoloration before leaving it to dry, as the acetone can sometimes leave behind a light yellowing of the material.
