What You'll Need for Removing Ink Stains from Gingham

  • Cotton swabs
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • White vinegar
  • Cornstarch or talcum powder
  • A white cloth
  • Dish detergent

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Blot the stained area with white paper towels. Do not rub; just blot. This will help absorb as much of the ink out as possible.
  2. If the stain is still visible, mix one part hydrogen peroxide with one part hot water in a bowl.
  3. Soak a cotton swab in mixture and gently apply it to the stained area. Allow it to dry naturally.
  4. Once the hydrogen peroxide has dried, sprinkle cornstarch or talcum powder onto the affected area. Let it sit overnight.
  5. After it's been sitting for at least 8 hours, brush off the powder.
  6. If the stain is still there, mix equal parts white vinegar and dish detergent in a bowl.
  7. Submerge a small portion of the gingham and let it soak for up to 30 minutes.
  8. Using a soft cloth, scrub the stained area gently. Rinse and repeat until stain is gone.
  9. Once the stain has been successfully removed, rinse the fabric thoroughly and air-dry it.
