What You'll Need:
- Ice cold water
- Mild detergent
- Soft cloth
- Borax powder
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Rinse the delicate lace with ice cold water. Do not use hot water, as this will only set the ink further into the lace.
- Mix a small amount of mild detergent with some cold water. Soak affected area for 10 minutes.
- Gently rub the stained area with a soft cloth, using circular motions.
- If the stain persists, make a paste using Borax powder and cold water. Apply the paste to the stain and allow it to sit for 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water and repeat as necessary.
Tips & Tricks
- Always test cleaning products on a hidden section of the lace before applying it to the visible parts.
- Check labels carefully when buying detergents — you want to avoid anything with harsh chemicals, to prevent further damage to lace.
- Never put Carrickmacross lace in the washing machine; hand-washing is always best!
