Gather the Supplies

To clean ink stains from your blazer, you’ll need:

  • Dish Detergent
  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Sponge
  • Clean Towel

Step 1: Test for Colorfastness

Before attempting to remove the stain, check for colorfastness by dampening a cloth with rubbing alcohol and blotting it onto an inconspicuous area of the blazer. If the color of the fabric runs or fades, do not proceed further.

Step 2: Pre-treat the Stain

If the fabric is colorfast, begin pre-treating stain by mixing equal parts dish detergent and white vinegar in a bowl and stirring until blended. Dip a sponge in the mixture and dab it on the stain, avoiding rubbing the fabric. Allow the solution to sit for 5-10 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse With Cold Water

Rinse the stained area with cold water. Do not use hot water as it may cause the stain to set.

Step 4: Apply Baking Soda Paste

Create a paste using baking soda and water and apply it to the stain. Allow the paste to sit for 5-10 minutes.

Step 5: Rinse Again

Rinse blazer under cold water.

Step 6: Hang to Dry

Once all of the stained areas have been cleaned, hang the blazer up to dry. Do not put blazer in the dryer - this could cause the stain to set.

Step 7: Launder as Usual

Once the blazer is completely dry, launder it as usual.
