Launder with Detergent

The first step in removing ink stains from your Banana Republic clothing is to use your standard laundry detergent. Start by pre-treating the stained area with a liquid cleaner or laundry pre-treater. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove. Next, machine wash the item on the hottest water temperature recommended by the care label. Add an extra cup of laundry detergent and let the cycle run. Make sure you check the item for any remaining ink stains before drying.

Soak Item in Vinegar Solution

For tougher ink stains, fill your sink or basin with enough warm water to cover stained area. Then mix together 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1 teaspoon liquid dish detergent. Soak the item in the solution for at least 15 minutes. After soaking, gently agitate the water and work to remove ink stains using your fingers or a soft bristled brush. Rinse item thoroughly in cold water and launder as usual.

Apply Rubbing Alcohol

If you’re still seeing ink stains after attempting the previous methods, you can try using rubbing alcohol. Before proceeding, test the rubbing alcohol on an inconspicuous area of item to make sure it doesn’t damage fabric. Then, apply a generous amount of rubbing alcohol directly onto the stain. Use a clean, white cloth to dab it into stain. Continue to dab until the ink lifts off the fabric. Finish by rinsing the area with cold water and laundering as usual.

Try Acetone-Based Nail Polish Remover

If you’ve tried all the options above and are still having trouble getting rid of the ink stain, you can try using acetone-based nail polish remover. As with the rubbing alcohol, test the nail polish remover in an inconspicuous area of the garment before applying it to the stain. Once you’re sure the fabric is not affected by the nail polish remover, apply a small amount of the product directly to the ink stain. Let it sit for about five minutes, then rub the stain with a clean cloth. Rinse the area with cold water and launder as usual.

Call for Professional Help

If you’re still having trouble removing the ink stain from your clothing after trying all the above methods, your best bet is to call a professional dry cleaner. Professional dry cleaners are trained in the proper methods for treating delicate fabrics and removing tough stains. They will be able to assess situation and provide the best advice for getting rid of the ink stain.
