Easy Ways to Remove Ink Stains from Area Rugs

Accidents happen - and they often involve ink on your area rug. If you have ink stains on your rug, don't despair! There are a variety of easy methods to remove them quickly and effectively.

Using Rubbing Alcohol

  • Saturate the affected area with rubbing alcohol.
  • Blot with an absorbent rag; use a circular motion to lift stain.
  • Once the alcohol has been blot-treated, rinse the area with cold water.
  • Dab with a cloth until all liquid is absorbed.
  • Let the area dry.

Using Dish Washing Detergent

  • Mix together one teaspoon of dish washing detergent and one-quarter cup of warm water.
  • Dab the mixture onto the stain.
  • Scrub the stain gently with a soft brush or cloth.
  • Rinse the area with cold water.
  • Dab the area with an absorbent cloth until all the liquid is removed.
  • Let the area dry.

Using White Vinegar

  • Mix together equal parts white vinegar and water.
  • Apply the mixture to the stain using a rag.
  • Let the solution sit for 15 minutes.
  • Scrub the area gently with a soft brush or cloth.
  • Rinse area with cold water.
  • Dab the area with an absorbent cloth until all the liquid is removed.
  • Let the area dry.
