If the ink is still wet, blot area with a dry cloth to remove as much of the excess ink as you can. Be careful not to rub too hard or you might spread the stain further. If the stain remains, mix a few drops of mild soap or laundry detergent with warm water and dab the area with a clean cloth until the stain is gone.
For ink that has already set-in, rub a dab of rubbing alcohol onto the affected area with a damp cloth. Wipe it off with a damp cloth and then rinse surface with warm water. If a stain still remains after the first treatment, use a cotton swab dipped in vinegar and gently rub the area. Wipe away vinegar with a damp cloth, followed by a rinse of warm water to finish.
No matter how vigilant you are about cleaning, sometimes ink stains still happen. But there are steps you can take to keep them from occurring in the first place. Try to keep inks and pens away from surfaces where they could easily spill or make contact. When possible, store them in a cool, dry place out of reach from children or pets.
