Hairspray stains can pose a serious problem when it comes to taking care of our favorite footwear. Not only do they look unsightly, but they can also be difficult to remove without causing damage to delicate materials. The good news is that there are some simple steps you can take to lift hairspray stains from wedges without much fuss.

Step 1: Spot Test

As with tackling any type of stain, it's wise to conduct a spot test on the affected area first. This will allow you to assess how best to proceed and make sure that any cleaning products you use won't cause any damage. Gently rub a small amount of dish soap or laundry detergent into the stained area and allow it to sit for several minutes before wiping gently with a damp cloth.

Step 2: Apply a Stain Remover

If spot test was successful, you can move on to a more aggressive solution. Use an upholstery cleaner or a specialist stain remover formulated for the type of material used in your wedges – such as suede or leather – and be sure to follow instructions provided. Once you've applied the product, let it sit for a few minutes and then gently pat it dry with a paper towel.

Step 3: Rinse and Air Dry

Finally, rinse the area with lukewarm water and a clean cloth and then leave the wedges to air dry completely. Keep an eye on the fabric as it dries to make sure the hairspray stain has lifted. If necessary, you can repeat any of the steps above until the stain has disappeared.
