Hairspray stains are a common and unsightly problem. Whether you've gotten too close to the spray nozzle, or your dress is covered with stray droplets, removing these stains can seem like a daunting task. But with right techniques and tools, hairspray stains can be easily removed from clothing and other fabrics.

Things You'll Need

  • White cloth
  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Rubbing alcohol (optional)
  • Towel

Instructions:

  1. Blot the stain gently with a white cloth to remove any excess hairspray.
  2. Form a lather with a few drops of dish soap and some warm water. Gently rub this solution into the stained area of fabric.
  3. Rinse off the soap solution with warm water.
  4. If the stain remains, pour some rubbing alcohol onto a white cloth and dab the stain.
  5. Once the stain is gone, rinse rubbing alcohol off with warm water.
  6. Gently pat the fabric dry with a towel.
  7. If stain persists, repeat steps 1 through 6.

Tips:

  • Always check the care label before washing a garment. Some fabrics may require a professional cleaner when it comes to removing tough stains.
  • Never use off-brand hair products. The dyes in these products are much more likely to cause stains.
  • If you don't have rubbing alcohol, try using vinegar and water as an alternative stain remover.
