Hairspray residue can cause discoloration and dull the texture of delicate Teneriffe lace fabric, making it look old and dingy. Before attempting to remove the stains, it’s important to ensure the fabric is colorfast, as bleaching or other harsh chemicals can ruin it.
The first step to treating Teneriffe lace fabric stained with hairspray is to use a cloth dampened with cold water to blot the affected area. If possible, avoid rubbing the fabric, as this could worsen spill.
Once you’ve blotted the stain, stand fabric up in a sink or tub filled with cold water for about five minutes. This will help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.
The next step is to create a cleaning solution that won’t damage the fabric. Mix equal parts white vinegar and dish soap into a bowl and stir until it’s well blended. Dip a clean cloth into mixture and gently scrub the stained area. Blot the fabric dry when finished, then lay the cloth flat to air-dry.
If the vinegar and soap mixture doesn’t work or stain is still visible, try using a small amount of bleach. Before doing so, dilute bleach in cold water, then add the mixture to a bucket. Submerge the fabric in the bucket and allow it to soak for 15 minutes. Once finished, rinse the fabric with water, then wash it in the washing machine according to the cleaning instructions provided by the manufacturer.
With a little patience and the right cleaning products, you can restore beauty of your Teneriffe lace fabric. Don't let stubborn stains ruin your favorite pieces!
