If you notice any hairspray residue on your silk chiffon garment, it's important to treat it as soon as possible. The longer the hairspray is allowed to sit on the fabric, the more likely it is to set in and become difficult to remove.
Mix a solution of cold water and a mild detergent or soap, and soak the stained area of the chiffon in the mixture for 30 minutes. This will help loosen the hairspray residue and make it easier to remove.
If the stain is still not coming out, try using a stain remover specifically designed for fabrics. These products can sometimes be found at the grocery store. Follow the instructions on the package for applying the product, and let it sit for 10-20 minutes before attempting to rinse the garment.
Once stain has been treated, rinse the garment with cold water. Do not use hot water as this could cause the fabric to shrink or the colors to fade. Hang up the garment to air dry, and then inspect to ensure stain has been completely removed. If not, repeat steps 2-4.
