Gather Your Supplies

Before you begin cleaning the stain, make sure you have the right supplies on hand. You'll need a liquid laundry detergent, white vinegar, a soft cloth or brush, and an absorbing powder like cornstarch.

Apply Detergent & Vinegar

Start by lightly moistening stained area with cold water. Then apply a small amount of liquid laundry detergent directly onto stain. Allow the detergent to sit for five minutes before lightly scrubbing area with a soft cloth or brush. Once area is thoroughly cleaned, dampen a cloth with white vinegar and blot the area until the stain is gone.

Sprinkle with Cornstarch

After you've removed the stain, sprinkle the area with cornstarch. Let the cornstarch sit for at least half an hour before brushing it away with a soft cloth. This will help absorb any remaining moisture and prevent the stain from reappearing or getting darker.

Additional Tips

  • Always test any cleaning product on a small, hidden area before using to ensure it won't damage the fabric.
  • Never rub or scrub the stain too harshly, as this can cause damage to the fabric.
  • If the stain is still present after following the above steps, try using a color-safe stain remover.
