Hairspray can cause stains that are difficult to remove if not treated correctly. To effectively clean hairspray stains, it’s important to act quickly and follow these easy steps:

  • If the stain is still wet, blot any excess hairspray with a clean cloth or paper towel
  • Create a cleaning solution by combining warm water, dish soap, and white vinegar in a spray bottle.
  • Spray affected area with the solution and leave for five minutes.
  • Scrub the solution into the fabric gently.
  • Rinse with cold water until the stain is gone and no soap remains.
  • If stain persists, apply a commercial cleaner and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • Repeat scrubbing and rinsing until the stain is completely gone.
  • If necessary, use a stain remover.
  • Wash the garment as usual.

Always test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous or hidden area before treating the stained area. If the fabric color is at all faded, then product should be avoided. It's also important to read the manufacturer's care instructions before attempting any cleaning process.

Following these steps will help to ensure that the stains resulting from hairspray are removed and the clothing item looks as good as new.
