Start by lightly sponging the area with a mixture of cold water and detergent. It’s best to use warm water instead of hot water for this step, as hot water can actually set the stain, making it more difficult to remove.
Once you’ve sponged area with water and detergent, mix one part ammonia and four parts cold water. Dip a cloth in the solution and blot the stain with the solution. Be sure to blot, rather than scrub, the area. Scrubbing can damage the fabric.
After you’ve completely blotted the area with the ammonia solution, rinse the shirt with cool water. Once shirt has been rinsed, lay it flat on a clean towel and allow it to air dry.
Once shirt is dry, check to make sure that the stain is gone. If the stain is still there, repeat steps 1 through 4 until the stain is gone.
