The first step is to blot the affected area with a paper towel or cloth to remove as much of the hairspray as possible. Don't rub or scrub it, as this will only spread the stain or cause more damage.
Once you've blotted away the excess hairspray, create a cleaning solution by mixing one part mild liquid detergent with two parts cold water. Rinse the affected area with plain water to remove any residue.
Dab the stained area lightly with a soft cloth dampened in the detergent mixture. Continue dabbing until the stain fades. Don't rub it - just blot gently.
If necessary, you may need to repeat this process a few times. If the stain persists and refuses to come out, consider taking the item to a professional dry cleaner.
Once you've removed stain, rinse the area thoroughly with cool water to remove any residue from the detergent. Hang the item up to air dry completely.
