What You Will Need

  • Bowl of lukewarm water
  • Liquid detergent soap
  • Oxygen (or color safe) bleaching agent
  • Soft cloth
  • Vinegar (optional)

Directions

  1. First, rinse the stained area with lukewarm water. Make sure not to rub the fabric together as this may further set the hair dye.
  2. Next, apply a generous amount of liquid detergent soap directly to stain. Gently rub together fabric until the stain starts to lighten.
  3. If the stain is still present after first two steps, mix in some oxygen (or color safe) bleaching agent with the detergent and water mixture. Let the mixture sit on the stain for 10-20 minutes, then gently scrub the fabric together.
  4. Lastly, rinse off the mixture with lukewarm water and blot the area dry with a soft cloth. If the stain still remains, try adding a small amount of vinegar to the mixture and repeating steps 3 and 4.
