Hairspray is a classic beauty product used to deliver hold and shine to hair. But unfortunately it doesn’t always stay put, leaving hairspray residue or build-up on clothing, furniture, skin and even footwear. Here’s how to get rid of those pesky hairspray stains from your pumps.

Gently blot hairspray-stained area with a damp cloth to remove as much of the hairspray residue as possible. Don't scrub the stain, as that may cause it to spread, or rub harder to try to lift it. This will only push the hairspray deeper into the fabric and make it harder to remove.
Mix a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar in a bowl. Dip an absorbent cloth into the mixture, then apply it directly to the stained areas and let it sit for five minutes. Rinse with cool, clean water. Repeat this step if necessary.
Once the stains have been mostly removed, place your shoes in a washing machine with a mild detergent. Run the machine on a cold, delicate setting and avoid using bleach or fabric softener. When cycle is finished, line dry your shoes away from direct heat and sunlight.
