Step 1: Pre-treat the Stain

Apply a laundry pre-treatment solution directly onto the stain. Gently rub the product in a circular motion and let the solution settle for 5 minutes. Use a soft brush or cloth to break down the hairspray particles.

Step 2: Soak the Pullover

Fill a sink or tub with warm water and add a capful of laundry detergent or enzyme cleaner. Submerge pullover completely and allow it to soak for at least 1 hour. Lighter colored garments should soak for no more than 1 hour to avoid color fading.

Step 3: Wash & Dry the Pullover

After soaking, place the garment into the washing machine with a mild detergent on a cold-water cycle. Do not put the pullover in the dryer. Air dry the pullover and check to see if stain has been removed.

Additional Tips

  • If the stain persists, repeat steps 1-3.
  • When picking pre-treatments, choose one specifically formulated for hairspray or oily stains.
  • Avoid using hot water as this can set stain.
