What You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Clean cloth

Step 1: Apply Baking Soda

Start by sprinkling baking soda directly onto your pot or pan stained with hairspray. Add enough baking soda to completely cover affected area, then let it sit for 30 minutes.

Step 2: Add Vinegar

After 30 minutes have elapsed, sprinkle some white vinegar onto the baking soda-covered surface. The combination of baking soda and vinegar should create a bubbling reaction that helps to loosen the hairspray stain.

Step 3: Scrub Away the Stain

When the bubbling action has stopped, use a clean cloth to scrub away the hairspray stain. Be sure to scrub in a circular motion, applying some pressure to ensure the accumulation of dirt and debris are removed.

Step 4: Rinse with Water

Once you’ve removed as much of hairspray stain as possible, rinse the pot or pan with warm water. This will help to remove any remaining traces of baking soda and vinegar mixture, as well as any residue from the stain.

Step 5: Dry and Enjoy

Once you’ve finished cleaning your cookware, be sure to dry it off with a clean cloth or towel. You can then enjoy newfound sparkle and shine of your pots, pans, and other cookware that was once covered in hairspray residue.
