The first step for removing hairspray stains is to dampen the affected area with cold water. This will help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove. Make sure to not to use hot water as this can cause hairspray to set further into the fabric.
Once the stain has been dampened, blot it gently with a sponge or cloth soaked in white vinegar. The acidic nature of the vinegar will help to break down hairspray and make it easier to remove. Make sure not to scrub or rub the stain as this can spread it further into the fabric.
If the vinegar fails to remove stain, apply rubbing alcohol or isopropanol alcohol to the stained area. Let it sit for a few minutes before blotting with a clean cloth. Once the cloth starts to turn dark, rinse it out and continue blotting until the stain begins to lighten.
For particularly stubborn stains, try using a dry-cleaning solvent such as B-Brite or Carbona. Follow instructions on packaging and be careful not to overuse product as it can damage the fabric.
Once the stain has been removed, blot the area with an absorbent towel until it is completely dry. Allow fabric to air-dry once the towel has dried up the spot.
