What You'll Need

  • Clean cloths or rags
  • Oxygen-based bleach
  • White vinegar
  • Borax
  • Laundry detergent

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Take a clean cloth or rag and gently blot the stained area. This helps remove as much hairspray as possible before treating the stain.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Mix together equal parts of the oxygen-based bleach and white vinegar in a small bowl. For example, if you use ¼ cup of bleach, use ¼ cup of vinegar.

Step 3: Apply Solution to Stain

Apply the solution directly to the stain and allow to sit for 10 minutes. This will help loosen hairspray. Afterwards, rinse the area with cold water.

Step 4: Treatment with Borax

Make a paste by mixing equal parts borax and laundry detergent. Apply the paste to the stained area of the fabric and let it sit for 30 minutes. Afterwards, wash fabric as directed on its care label.
