Before starting any cleaning process, it's important to test fabric for colorfastness. Make a solution of one part hydrogen peroxide and one part cold water. Dab a small amount on an inconspicuous area of the fabric, such as a seam or inside flap. Wait 15 minutes, then check for any discoloration. If there is none, continue with the cleaning process.
Mix one tablespoon of ammonia with two cups of cold water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and dab it directly onto stain.
Next, mix one tablespoon of white vinegar and two cups of cold water. Dab a second clean cloth into this solution and gently scrub the stain in a circular motion. Work from outside of the stain towards center. Allow the mixture to soak into the fabric for a few minutes.
Using cold water, rinse away the ammonia and vinegar mixture. Squeeze excess water out of the fabric and move the fabric to a dry area.
Use a soft brush to blot any remaining moisture. Fluff fabric in the direction of the nap while blotting. To finish, a towel or paper towels may be used to complete the drying process.
Removing hairspray from piqué fabric doesn't have to be a difficult task. With the help of a few simple ingredients and the five steps in this guide, you can get rid of those pesky stains quickly and easily.
