Removing Hairspray Stains from Pants

  1. As soon as possible, rinse the fabric with cold water to prevent the stain from setting.
  2. Be sure not to rub or scrub the area, as this will only cause the stain to spread. Gently pat the material to soak up some of the hairspray.
  3. Create a mixture of liquid dish soap and cold water and dab it onto the stain.
  4. Let the solution sit for a couple of minutes before rinsing the fabric with cold water.
  5. If the stain persists, use white vinegar and cold water to create a new solution and dab it onto stain.
  6. Let it sit for a few minutes then rinse with cold water. Repeat this step until stain is gone.
  7. Air dry the fabric or dry it with a clean towel.

Additional Tips

  • If you have access to an oxygen-based stain remover, mix it with cold water and use it to pre-treat the stain before laundering your pants.
  • Toss your pants in the washing machine afterward, with cold or lukewarm water. Repeat this step if necessary.
  • If the stain still lingers after several attempts at removing it, take your pants to a professional dry cleaner.
