Getting hairspray on your overalls can be frustrating and hard to clean, however, depending on the type of fabric your overalls are made of and the type of hairspray involved, there are some methods that you can use to tackle the stains.
If you have a pair of denim overalls, start by creating a solution of one part white vinegar and one part water. Blot stained area with a damp sponge or cloth, then pour enough of solution over the area to saturate the fabric. Allow the material to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it with cold water. Repeat this process if needed.
If your overalls are made of cotton or a synthetic blend, create a detergent solution using one teaspoon of liquid detergent for every cup of lukewarm water. Place the stained area into the solution and let it soak for about 10-15 minutes before gently agitating the overalls by rubbing the fabric together. Rinse the overalls with cold water and repeat if needed.
Rubbing alcohol is a great alternative to use to remove a hairspray stain. Before beginning, test the fabric of overalls by applying a bit of rubbing alcohol on an inconspicuous area to make sure color doesn't fade or bleed. Pour the rubbing alcohol directly onto the stained area and blot it with a clean cloth. Continue to dab the area until the stain starts to disappear and blot with a cool damp cloth or rinse it with cold water.
Nail polish remover is also an effective way to lift hairspray stains from your overalls. Make sure to choose an acetone-free nail polish remover to avoid any potential damage to the fabric. Dip a brush or cloth into the nail polish remover and gently scrub onto the stained area. Rinse off with cold water and repeat if needed.
