When it comes to outdoor furniture, it is made to withstand more wear and tear than the average piece of indoor furniture—but that doesn’t mean it always does. When those outdoor pieces get stained with stubborn hairspray, it can be an annoying problem for homeowners. Don’t worry though—we have some simple tips on how to tackle even the stickiest of hairspray stains.

Start by Wiping Away Excess Product

The first step to cleaning up hairspray stains is to take a damp cloth and gently wipe away any excess product that might be on the surface of the furniture. It’s important to go slow here, as rubbing too hard can cause the stain to spread and set deeper into the fabric.

Create a Solution of Vinegar and Water

One of best ways to remove hairspray stains from outdoor furniture is to create a solution of vinegar and water. Mix together equal parts of each liquid in a bowl, and then use a soft cloth to apply the solution to the stain. Let the solution sit for a few minutes, and then lightly rub the fabric in a circular motion to help break up the stain.

Mix Together a Soap Detergent Paste

In addition to the vinegar and water mixture, you can also try making a paste out of liquid dish soap and detergent. Just combine equal parts of each ingredient in a bowl until you get a thick paste, and then rub the paste onto the stain. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes before washing off with a damp cloth.

Rinse and Repeat

If the stain is still there after the initial applications of the solutions, don’t worry—just rinse the fabric off with a damp cloth and start process again. With some patience, the stain should eventually come out. Just remember to be gentle and avoid scrubbing too harshly.

With these easy tips and tricks, you’ll be able to easily clean away those pesky hairspray stains from your outdoor furniture. So, the next time you find yourself with a sticky mess, you’ll know exactly what to do.
