Step 1: Blot the Stain

Start by blotting the stain - don't rub it or use any kind of scrubbing motion! Use a soft white cloth or paper towel to gently blot at the stain and lift off as much of the hairspray as possible. Don't press too hard, as you could risk pushing some of the hairspray further into the fabric.

Step 2: Wet Area

Pour a small amount of cool water over the area and use your fingers to lightly massage the stain. Continue blotting the stain with a dry cloth or paper towel until no more hairspray comes off.

Step 3: Apply Cleaning Solution

Mix a solution of equal parts dish soap with warm water and apply it onto stain. Allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes before blotting the solution off with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Step 4: Put Shoes in Washing Machine

Place shoes in washer on a gentle cycle using cold water and a mild detergent. Make sure not to overload the machine, as this could cause damage to the fabric. Once finished, air dry the shoes away from direct sunlight.

Step 5: Repeat as Necessary

Repeat as necessary to remove stubborn stains, then enjoy your newly-clean shoes.
