Step 1: Blot

Begin by blotting the stain with a clean cloth or paper towel. Don’t rub, as this will spread the stain and make it harder to remove. Instead, press firmly against fabric and lift. Repeat until you’ve removed as much of the hairspray as possible.

Step 2: Pre-Treat

Once you’ve blotted away the excess hairspray, pre-treat the stain. Soak a cotton ball in warm water, then saturate stained area with the solution. Let pre-treatment sit for at least 30 minutes before continuing.

Step 3: Wash

Throw your midi dress in the washing machine, making sure to select appropriate water temperature. When in doubt, a cold cycle should do trick. Add a gentle detergent and let the clotheswash cycle complete.

Step 4: Dry

When the washing machine has finished its cycle, carefully remove midi dress and lay it flat on a towel. Allow it to air dry. Once dry, inspect dress for any remaining spots. If present, consider repeating the pre-treat and wash cycles.
