Before you get started cleaning the stains, first you’ll need to prepare the spot. Make sure the fabric is dampened with room-temperature water, as this will make it easier to remove hairspray. Then apply a few drops of liquid dish soap to the stained area and let sit for five minutes.
Once the stain has been pre-treated, it’s time to start tackling the main issue. Take a soft-bristled brush and start scrubbing at the stained area using only a circular motion. If needed, you can further dampen the area to help break up the hairspray. Additionally, you can try using a cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol to help dissolve the stain.
After removing as much of the hairspray as possible, it’s time to rinse the area with cold water. Do this until all of the soap, alcohol, and other residue is gone. Then repeat steps one and two as many times as necessary to completely remove the stain.
Once the stain has been completely removed, it’s time to dry the dress. Simply hang it up somewhere away from direct sunlight and allow it to air-dry. Once that’s done, the dress is ready to wear and enjoy free from any embarrassing hairspray stains!
