When it comes to removing hairspray stains from Marc Jacobs clothing, the best method is to use a combination of liquid detergent and cold water. Take the garment and turn it inside out, then wet the back side of the stain with cold water. Apply a dab of liquid detergent directly to the stain and gently rub it in with a soft-bristled brush or an old toothbrush. After about five minutes, rinse the area with cold water.
If cold water and liquid detergent don't work, try using white vinegar instead. Soak the stained area of the garment in cold water and add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to solution. Let it soak for 15 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
If the stain still won't come out, spot clean it with a dry cleaning solvent. To do this, simply take the garment to a dry cleaner or purchase a dry cleaning solvent from your local drug store or grocery store. Follow the directions on the package and apply the solvent directly to stained area. Allow the garment to dry before wearing it.
Hairspray stains can easily be prevented by taking some simple steps. When styling your hair, make sure to do it in a well-ventilated area and keep the spray at least a foot away from clothing. If you accidentally get hairspray on your clothing, immediately blot the area with a damp cloth and then wash it as soon as possible. This will ensure that the stain doesn't have time to set in.
