How to Remove Hairspray Stains from a Jersey

  1. Gently scrape the stained area with a spoon or butter knife to remove any excess hairspray.
  2. Mix one part vinegar with two parts water. Dip a cloth in the mixture and wring out the excess liquid.
  3. Blot stained area with the cloth dampened with the vinegar and water solution. Allow the material to soak for 10 minutes.
  4. Rinse the jersey in cold water and repeat the process until no trace of the stain remains.
  5. Launder the jersey according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Tips for Keeping Hairspray Stains Away

  • Avoid using aerosol hairspray, as it can be hard to control where it goes when it’s sprayed.
  • Spray hairspray onto an old towel and use the towel to apply it to your hair or clothes.
  • When spraying hairspray, stand far away from your jersey and try to direct it away from your clothes.
  • If you do get hairspray on your jersey by accident, treat it quickly to stop it from setting in.
