What You'll Need

  • Clean cloth or sponge
  • Mild detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Small brush
  • Clothes iron (optional)

Step-by-Step Guide

Remove Excess Hairspray and Allow the Stain to Dry

If the stain has not yet dried, first remove any excess product by blotting the area with a clean cloth or sponge. Be gentle, as you don't want to spread the stain around. Then, leave the stain alone until it dries completely.

Apply Mild Detergent and Water

After the stain is dry, mix 1 teaspoon of mild detergent with 1 cup of warm water. Use a clean cloth to gently rub the solution into the stain. Rinse the stained area and blot it with a clean cloth to remove any excess moisture.

Create a Paste of Baking Soda and White Vinegar

Combine 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of white vinegar to form a paste. Gently rub paste into the stained area with a small brush. Leave the paste on the stain for several minutes before rinsing it off with cold water and blotting the area with a clean cloth.

Repeat if Necessary

If the stain persists after the first attempt, repeat the process until it is gone. If all else fails, try using an iron to steam the stain. Place a damp cloth on top of stain, and then press the steam setting of your iron onto cloth. Let the steam penetrate stain for a few seconds before blotting area with a clean cloth.
