Hairspray can often leave behind an unsightly mess on a grill’s surface, but fortunately, it isn’t a problem you have to live with. Here are a few excellent tips for cleaning off stains from hairspray:

  1. Fill a large bowl with ice-cold water, then submerge the stained portion of the grill in it.
  2. Let the grill sit in the water for 10 minutes.
  3. Using a sponge, scrub area with a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and dishwashing liquid.
  4. Rinse off with warm water and dry with a clean cloth.

The above method should work fine for most surfaces, but you may want to try something else if you're dealing with a particularly stubborn stain. In that case, you could use a commercial degreaser or a paste of baking soda and water.

It’s important to note, however, that you should never use abrasive cleaners or steel wool pads to remove hairspray from grills as these can damage surface. If all else fails a professional cleaning may be needed.
