First, check the care label on the item of flannel clothing. If it has the dry clean only label, then you must take the garment to a professional dry cleaner. Otherwise, you can try your hand at stain removal yourself.

Start by dabbing stained area with a white cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of hairspray as possible. Avoid rubbing the stain too much, as it can set it.

Next, you'll want to make a solution of warm water and laundry detergent. Test it first in an inconspicuous area of the fabric to make sure it doesn't cause any discoloration or fading. Then, apply the mixture to the stain using a soft bristled brush.

If the hairspray does not come out completely, mix one cup of white vinegar with two cups of warm water and dab solution onto the stain. Blot with a clean cloth until the stain lifts out.

Finally, rinse the area of the flannel with cold water to remove any remaining traces of detergent or vinegar and then let it air dry. If the stain isn't completely gone, repeat the steps until the stain is lifted.
