Depending on the type of fabric or material, the approach to cleaning hairspray stains from Dolce & Gabbana may vary. This guide will give you the step-by-step instructions for both natural and synthetic fibers.
If your Dolce & Gabbana item contains natural fibers such as cotton or linen, the first step is to scrape off any excess hairspray. This can be done with a spoon, angled spatula, or soft brush. Once that’s done, mix a solution of two cups of warm water, 1 tablespoon of mild liquid detergent, and 1 tablespoon of white distilled vinegar. Use this solution to dampen a cloth and apply it to the stained area and let it sit for a few minutes. Next, gently rub the stained area in a circular motion using the same cloth. Rinse the item with lukewarm water, and then place it on a clean towel. Press down firmly to help soak up any remaining moisture, then lay it flat in the sun to help speed up the drying process.
Items made of synthetic fibers such as polyester, nylon, or acrylic should be handled differently than natural fibers. Start by scraping off as much of the excess hairspray as possible, and then blot stain with a damp cloth. The key is to never rub the fabric; you want to simply press down on it lightly to lift the hairspray away. After that, prepare a solution of 1 cup of warm water, 1 tablespoon of mild liquid detergent, and 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol. Apply this solution to the stain and press down with a damp cloth, almost like you would with an iron. Finally, rinse the garment in cold water, squeeze out any excess water, and then lay it flat to dry.
