Step One: Use Water and Detergent

The first step is to wet thestained area with cold water. Then, add a few drops of liquid detergent to the cloth or sponge and gently scrub the stain. This should loosen the hairspray residue and make it easier to lift off the fabric.

Step Two: Try a Stain Remover or an Oxygen-Based Cleanser

If the water and detergent method does not work, try using a stain remover specifically designed for hairspray. Another option would be an oxygen-based cleanser which can be used on both whites and light colors. Simply pour the cleanser onto the affected area and leave it to soak for a few moments before rinsing off with cold water.

Step Three: Repeat if Necessary

If the stain persists, repeat steps one and two until it has been completely removed. Be sure to test out any product on a hidden part of garment first to make sure it doesn’t cause any fading or other damage to the material.
