When treating a hairspray stain on chiffon or georgette fabric, it’s important to act quickly and use the correct techniques to avoid causing any further damage. As these fabrics are delicate and prone to snagging, you should take extra care during the cleaning process.
The first step is to lay the item flat on a towel, with stained area facing up. This will help to absorb any excess product and ensure that the stain does not spread.
Using a damp cloth, gently dab the stain until it has been removed. Make sure not to press down too hard as this could cause the fabric to tear, and never rub the material as this may create more of a mess.
Once the stain has been removed, it’s time to rinse the fabric. Fill a bowl or sink with lukewarm water, then place the fabric in the water and gently swirl it around. This will help to remove any residue left behind by the hairspray.
Once the fabric has been washed, it’s important to wring out any excess water. Be sure not to squeeze too hard as this could cause the fabric to stretch or tear.
Once the fabric is free of water, hang it out to air-dry in a ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Make sure that the item of clothing is completely dry before storing it away.
