The first thing you need to do is wet a clean cloth with lukewarm water and blot the hairspray stain gently. Be careful not to rub the stained area as this can damage the canvas. Then, apply a generous amount of rubbing alcohol onto the affected area and let it sit for a few minutes. This will help break up the hair spray residue. Once the alcohol has had a chance to work its magic, use a clean dry cloth to dab area dry.

You can also make a cleaner using a mixture of vinegar and water. Simply mix a cup of white vinegar with a cup of warm water and use it to dab the area with a cloth. The vinegar helps break down the hairspray residue and make it easier to remove. Leave solution on the stain for at least ten minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water and blotting dry with a clean cloth.

If the hairspray stain is particularly stubborn, you may need to use a commercial cleaning product specifically designed for canvas. Choose one that does not contain bleach or other harsh chemicals, as these can damage material. Follow the instructions on the product label and make sure to rinse area thoroughly afterwards.

With a bit of elbow grease and some patience, you can get rid of those pesky hairspray stains on your canvas permanently. Before you know it, your beloved piece of artwork will look as good as new!
