Use a clean cloth or paper towel to remove as much of the hairspray from the fabric as you can. Be sure to use light pressure and dab gently so you don’t damage delicate fibers of the broomstick lace.
Fill a bucket or basin with lukewarm water and a few drops of mild liquid detergent. Gently submerge the strip of broomstick lace in soapy solution and let it soak for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, take the fabric out and rinse it thoroughly with cold water.
If any stains remain after soaking fabric, prepare a fresh solution of liquid detergent, white vinegar, and warm water. Dip a clean cloth or sponge in the solution and use it to spot treat the stubborn stains, blotting gently. Let the solution sit on the stain for 10 minutes, then rinse the fabric with cold water.
Once fabric is rinsed, squeeze out the excess water and hang it up to air dry. Do not wring the fabric out, as it may stretch or damage the delicate fiber.
Getting hairspray out of broomstick lace is possible with a little bit of patience and effort. Use the steps outlined above to get stubborn stains out of your favorite fabrics. With a little know-how, you’ll have your fabric looking good as new in no time.
