Step One: Blot

First things first, before you start doing anything else make sure that you blot the stain with a damp cloth. This will help lift the stain and make it easier to deal with. Be careful not to rub too hard or you may end up spreading the stain further.

Step Two: Pre-Treat with Detergent

After you have blotted the stain, grab some laundry detergent and pre-treat the area. Apply the detergent directly onto the stain and let it sit for around 15 minutes or so. You can also try using a stain remover or a spot cleaner if you have one handy.

Step Three: Wash

Once you have pre-treated the stain, it’s time to wash it. Make sure the cycle is set to the warmest temperature possible and throw in some extra fabric softener as well. This will help break down the hairspray and help it come out easier.

Step Four: Finish Up

When you’re finished washing, take a look and see if the stain has been removed. If not, repeat steps one through three until stain is gone. Once you’re done, hang the garment up to dry and admire your handiwork!
