Board shorts are made for the beach, pool and other water activities, so it's only natural that they'll accumulate dirt and stains over time. Hairspray is no exception, and if you’re not careful, you can end up with a sticky, uncomfortable situation. Don’t worry - we’ve got a few simple methods that you can use to restore your board shorts back to their original condition.
Mix equal parts rubbing alcohol and water in a spray bottle, shake it up, and spray the stained area of your board shorts. Rub a clean microfiber cloth into the stained area and let the solution set for 5-10 minutes before applying some cold water. Rinse off the solution and repeat this process until the stain has been removed.
Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of dish soap in a small bowl. Apply the mixture directly to the stain and use a soft brush or sponge to rub the mixture into the fabric. Let it set for 5-10 minutes, then use a damp cloth to wipe away the residue. If the stain persists, you can repeat this process as many times as necessary.
This method works well for tougher, more stubborn stains. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and mist the stained area. Then use a clean cloth to gently scrub the fabric in a circular motion until the stain starts to lighten. Finally, rinse off the fabric with cool water and voila, you’re done!
Stains can be a real pain, but they don’t have to be if you know how to properly remove them. With these three easy methods, you can like new board shorts in no time. So next time you find yourself dealing with a nasty hairspray stain, try one of these methods and enjoy your time in sun!
