Step #1: Determine the Fabric

The first step in cleaning Alexander McQueen garments is to identify fabric it’s made of. This is important because different fabrics require different cleaning methods, and some fabrics may react negatively to certain cleaning products. Check the label for information about fabric types.

Step #2: Pre-treat the Stain

Once you’ve identified the fabric, you can start treating the stain. Use a mild detergent or pre-treatment solution specifically designed for the fabric type. Gently rub this into the stain using a soft cloth and allow it to sit for five minutes.

Step #3: Washing the Garment

Immerse the clothing in cold water and swish it around until the stain begins to lift. For more stubborn stains, try scrubbing area with a soft brush. Once the stain is gone, use a mild laundry detergent, and be sure to launder garment on gentle cycle.

Step #4: Removing Odors

If garment is left with an unpleasant odor after washing, you can use a fabric refresher spray to help remove it. Spray the garment lightly and allow it to dry. For stronger odors, you may want to soak garment in a mixture of one part vinegar and two parts water for about thirty minutes before rinsing and drying.

Step #5: Drying the Clothing

Finally, hang the garment up to air dry. Do not put it in the dryer, as this could cause the fabric to shrink or become even more damaged. Once it’s dry, you should be able to see that stain is completely gone and that your Alexander McQueen item looks as good as new.
