Grease and oil stains are inevitable, especially with a wrap dress that is highly susceptible to such elements. Whether it is from food, sweat or any other sources, these stains can be quite difficult to remove, damaging the fabric in the process. Luckily, there are several techniques you can use to effectively clean grease and oil stains from your wrap dress without having to purchase expensive cleaning solutions or take it to dry cleaner.

Basic Cleaning Supplies & Materials

  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Old toothbrush
  • Clean white cloth

Step 1: Air Out Stain

If your wrap dress is still wearable when the stain occurs, the best way to prevent it from setting in is to air it out as soon as possible. Lay affected area out in the sun or over a fan to encourage drying process, which will make it easier to remove the stain.

Step 2: Sprinkle Baking Soda

Once the stain has completely dried up, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the affected area. This will help to absorb the grease and oil, making it easier to remove later.

Step 3: Add Salt & White Vinegar

Add a few teaspoons of salt to baking soda and mix together. Next, pour white vinegar until it is damp and paste-like. Apply the paste to the stained area, allowing it to sit for about 10 minutes. This will help to loosen up the grease and oil, making it easier to remove.

Step 4: Scrub Away the Stain

Once the paste has had time to sit, use an old toothbrush to scrub the area in circular motions. Be sure to scrub lightly so as not to damage the fabric of the wrap dress. Once stain has been removed, rinse area with cold water. To remove any stubborn stains, add a few drops of dish soap and scrub until clean.

Step 5: Dry Area

Once the stain is completely removed, rinse the area again and pat it dry with a clean white cloth. Allow the fabric to air dry or use a blow dryer on the lowest setting to speed up the process. Avoid using high heat as it may cause shrinkage or discoloration.
